How to enter a seed

A seed is useful only when the generator settings travel with it. The string is one field in a complete record, not the whole map.

Why the string is not enough: climate, map size, map format and the terrain sliders all change the generated world. Copy a seed by itself and you will get a different map than the one listed.

Where the seed field lives

Start a new free game.
Choose the Climate first, then open the World section of the map setup.
The World section holds Map Size, Map Format and Seed.
Paste the seed into the Seed field exactly as it is written, including capital letters.

Match the settings, not just the string

Set the same climate, map size and map format as the record before you generate. Then match the terrain sliders and the town and industry density values on the seed page. The same seed with the same settings always produces the same map; change any one field and it will not.

Platform limits

Consoles offer Small, Medium and Large only. Very Large and all experimental sizes are PC only. A seed listed as Very Large or experimental will not reproduce on console.

Copy the exact string

Seed strings are case-sensitive in practice. Copy the string as shown on the seed page, including upper- and lower-case letters, and paste it without adding spaces.
